Soul rescue. Transcripts

In this section, it would only be fair to point out that it takes a fairly experienced student to appreciate these writings and their depth.

To the beginner on their journey, please do read on, but be aware that the depth of knowledge here might need to be re-visited some time later to appreciate it's fullness and depth.

From the records of my good friends Barry and Wendy, who recorded the happenings as Wendy was a physical medium and had given spirit permission to use her as a conduit. She was protected at all times by her spirit guides. I hope you enjoy.

Soul Rescues. June 2003 – Jun 2004

These are the records of Barry and Wendy’s’ spirit recues where a soul, for the most part, sees the “soul light,” of Wendy & Barry and are attracted to it through their curiosity. Most are bewildered, confused or simply lost in the darkness of their ignorance after bodily death. There are as many reasons for these poor souls losing themselves are you can think of, but if they only knew that all they had to do was ask for help. Natural law will not allow any soul to interfere where another does not want us (or are totally ignorant of an afterlife. It is always better to have a little knowledge, at least, of the life after the physical).

2nd June 2003 6pm. Rescue of young woman.

Tape 10 mins: Wendy began to look distressed. A young voice, Barry thought it was a child, began a pitiful cry for help as she was lost and it was dark. Barry began the rescue procedure and eventually the soul was free. Wendy said later that it wasn’t a child but a young woman. Soon after, separately, two spirit persons came and thanked Wendy and Barry. The young woman had died in a car accident and had ‘seen your star’ (Light) and was drawn to you, they said. There were further sincere thanks for assistance.

19th Oct 2003. 6.40pm. ‘Harriet, soul rescue.’ / Song, ‘Ave Maria’

Taped. 30 mins.

During the day, Wendy felt the presence of spirit quite strongly, but nothing further developed. After sitting for at least forty minute that evening, a spirit person began to speak through her. Harriet was the young woman’s name but she knew nothing else of herself. She was extremely frightened and stammered that she did not know where she was, and it was dark. Knowing now that Harriet was a ‘Lost soul’ Barry began the rescue. After some time, Harriet calmed down and spirit helpers reached her. She visibly relaxed and gave a small smile and a ‘Bye’ as she left. One of the spirit helpers came as they usually do and said that she would be fine now and thanked Barry for his work. A few minutes later, another spirit person came. Wendy began to cough and held her hand over her mouth, in a fist, which is not Wendy’s normal way. When she settled, she began to sing in melody only, ‘Ave Maria’ again as had previously been heard and recorded. Then it was described by spirit as ‘Singing of an Angel’. This time it was with much more perfection. Incredible long high notes, Wendy could not possibly sing like this. When Barry was giving his appreciation, a soft voice said that ‘They were exercising the vocal chords, and we will return’.

Spirit communication through Wendy.27th July 2003 6.30pm. ‘Clancy.’ Assisting in a soul rescue.

This was the first time Wendy and Barry had participated in a soul rescue being conducted by spirit themselves. Both were unaware of this for a while. This is a record of a soul being brought out of his astral home from which he was unwilling to leave, to enter into full spirit life. He could have possibly been there for a hundred years. After a slow overshadowing of Wendy, a croaky voice said, S. ‘Evening friends.

’B. ‘Hello there, it’s good you are here.’ A long period of sighing, then in a whisper,

S. ‘Thank you.’ (Deep sighing again). Wendy said later that she told the spirit to relax, which he did.

S. ‘I’m sorry, I was holding on too strong.’ (In a firmer voice)

B. ‘Yes I could see some difficulty there.’ The visitor starts to open his eyes and looks around the room, then tilts Wendy’s head back so as to look at Barry. ‘I’m glad you can see me.’ The spirit nods, and seems to struggle to stay with Wendy. ‘Could you tell us something of yourself, we are at a disadvantage you know?’ More sighing for some time.

S. ‘I am trying. I am from your World; I once lived on the Earth plane.

’B. ‘Do you recognize what you see, the surroundings?’

S. ‘It is a house I believe?

’B. ‘Yes it is. The light is coming from……..lamps.

’S. ‘It seems to be a wooden house. (Wood panelling) We had one of logs, made of logs. I remember lots of trees; I think I must have lived in the woods.’B. ‘If your house was made of logs, it must have been a long time ago?

’S. ‘It apparently seems so. Lots of trails in the trees, I think I must have been hunter. Lots of skins.

’B. ‘Skins?

’S. ‘Yes.’

B. ‘And how is it that you are having this experience, talking to us, how did this come about?’

​S. ‘I am one of your friends you might say.

’B. ‘We know all about our friends and that they often give people the chance to make contact with the Earth again.’ There is the struggle to stay with Wendy, so Barry gives him some encouragement.

B. ‘You are doing very well.

’S. ‘Sorry I am taking up your time. Things have changed so much. (Looking around the room)

B. ‘Yes, you wouldn’t recognize things now. Things will continue to change, in time even we will forget this period.

’S. ‘I’m afraid I was living in the past. Your friends have convinced me to come and experience the faster vibration you could say.

’B. ‘Ahh, now I understand your position.

’S. ‘I have been living in the past, I’m glad you understand.

’B. ‘Now you will progress and be much happier.

’S. ‘Your friends have tried to convince for a long time that there was more than what I was living. It is a wonderful experience, the burden has been lifted. I was very afraid to come out.

’B. ‘And were you alone, where you were living?

’S. ‘Yes I was. Oh, I thank you! It is wonderful to feel so much love.

’B. ‘It will all be explained to now my friend, you will be very happy.

’S. ‘Yes I was a lost soul; I progressed so far and would not go no further. I don’t know why I was frightened. It seems so pointless at the moment.

’B. ‘That was your understanding at the time, there will be others in the same situation.

’S. ‘Yes I suppose you are right. I thought I was happy I suppose just frightened to take the next step.

’B. ‘Well that is now behind you friend.

’S. ‘There is a great deal to sink in at the moment, and I thank you. One needs a push very hard sometimes doesn’t one?

’B. ‘Even we need a push here my friend, nothing changes there. It’s the Human condition isn’t it?

’S. ‘I’ve had enough for this time (Sounding exhausted) thank you.

’B. ‘It’s been wonderful to have heard your story, thank you for that.

’S. ‘Most appreciated good-bye.’

Tape 36 Side B.

Wendy made several attempts to come out of trance but the visitor indicated pen and paper. He began to draw a log cabin amongst trees. Barry commented on things he drew to which he nodded. There were animal skins hanging on the walls outside. Barry said ‘You were a Fur Trapper’. No, he shook his head, and then drew a gun leaning against the wall. He was a ‘Hunter’. He spelt out his name as ‘Clansey’, Barry presumes it was Clancy. He lived in the American wilderness, snow country. The drawing was simple, about what an eight year old could do. There was no contact after this. Wendy was tired from this long session. It seems that spirit used Wendy as an instrument to finally convince Clancy to leave his self-imposed imprisonment and progress in the spirit realm. A first time experience for them both.

3rd April 04. 5.50pm. Quartet.

Tape 10 mins.

Wendy began by screwing up her mouth and shaking her head. Barry’s guess was right, another difficult rescue might be about to happen.“I suppose you think you can help me?” Said the spirit, and this set the tone for a while. It wasn’t long though before the soul warmed to Barry and a more relaxed conversation took place. It was a man and he guessed he was dead. At Barry’s confirmation, he just nodded his head. At this point the spirit told Barry there were others with him, they were in darkness and could he hold the other people’s hands? Barry began the rescue procedure from here. The spirit indicated that they could always see a door opening now and then and people waving to them. This made things easier for Barry, and very quickly the spirits, all holding hands, went to the lighted doorway. “They were so tired,” said the spirit as he went, offering grateful thanks to Barry. A guide came and said that they now had the four souls safely in their care. Barry jokingly remarked about how good it was to deal in quantity. The guide smiled and said that it was a great help to them to get four at one time. He gave thanks and a God bless.

3rd April 04. Same evening. I’ll walk with God’

Taped 10 mins.

It was only a few minutes from the last visitor that this soul came with a song. This spirit was not lost, or so it seemed, and sang their version of the hymn ‘I’ll walk with God’ it was quite long and sang very nicely. After Barry expressed his appreciation, the soul said it was the way he/she felt about their love of God. There was no further information on who this person was, just a goodbye and God bless.

4th April 04. 6pm. Elizabeth. Tape 7 mins.

Elizabeth was about five-years old, was lost in darkness and looking for her mother. She said that she had let go of her mother’s hand and was very upset. Wendy said later that while Elizabeth was talking, she could see trees or a sensation of being in the bush. Maybe Elizabeth had been lost in the wilds? Who knows? Barry did the rescue and it wasn’t to long, despite Elizabeth’s fear, that her face cheered up as she saw “Little children with lights” coming towards her. Then she said that a doorway with light in it was there and should she go? Barry let go of her hands and Elizabeth was gone.

4th April 04. Same evening. Running man. Tape 10 mins.

Wendy began puffing and gasping for breath. Barry calmed the spirit down and found that this soul was being pursued by spirits who meant him harm. He was exhausted by the chase through darkness, and ran to Wendy’s light when he saw it. He told Barry that the group chasing him were watching him now, but wouldn’t come nearer as Wendy’s light was too bright and they seemed scared of it. As Barry explained things to him, he took it well and eagerly followed Barry’s instructions. Soon, he too could see a doorway of light with people on the other side. He was relieved to say the least as he left, thanking Barry as he did so. The appearance of ‘Doorways’ is becoming prevalent in these rescues lately, but not all the time. It maybe what is required in different circumstances of spirit work?

4th May 04. 6.10pm. Coma / Three blendings. Tape 25 mins.

Wendy began by slowly folding into a foetal position. Barry said hello but only got a whimper from the soul. This woman had it seemed been involved in a car accident. She said that she was in a coma, whether this was correct or she was just lost in the darkness Barry didn’t know, but she began asking for her mother and father so he started the rescue. Because the young woman could not participate, Barry did the prayers to spirit. It wasn’t long before she saw her mother and father and this brought a great peace to her. She left with them whispering her thanks. After the rescue, the ‘Blendings’ returned. There were three separate spirit people, each one adjusting to Wendy, opening her eyes etc. They acknowledged Barry and looked around. It did sound to Barry that there were two male and one female spirit entities. During the third ones visit, Barry remarked that “I better get more chairs!” The spirit laughed and replied, “That might be handy” All three said that “They are trying things”. After these three left, Wendy took on the gestures and mannerisms of a very young child, say about four –years old. She clasped her hands between her legs; head down in the classic ‘Shy’ position. The child was ‘Lucy’ and a general child/adult conversation followed. It was all about puppy and pussy pets etc and yes there were grown-ups watching and listening. She told Barry that her mother and father ‘Were naughty, they mistreated me” but she was very happy now. A guide came with very sincere thanks afterwards.

13th May 04. 6pm. Heart attack / Les. Taped 30 mins.

A soul came to Wendy in pain, clutching his chest. With great difficulty, he told Barry he remembered Lying on the floor in pain. Barry convinced him of his passing and that he need not feel pain anymore. At the end of the rescue procedure, this man was surprised to see a road of light, beautiful trees and flowers that were ‘Humming’ He then saw ‘A shining man, glowing with light!’ Barry urged him to go to him and the rescue was complete. Soon after, another man was calling out “Where am I?” He was stunned by the fact that he had gone to bed to sleep and then woke up like this. Barry calmed him and found out his name was Leslie, or Les as he proffered. He had obviously died in his sleep and accepted this from Barry. The rescue finished with Les seeing it get brighter and a door opening revealing ‘A man in a dress!’ (A lot of souls use ‘Dress’ instead of robe maybe?)Barry laughed and told Les who it was and to go to him. Quite amazed, Les did so saying thanks you to Barry. When the guide or helper came, it was with Wendy’s eyes open and looking at Barry. “Many thanks, two saved. They died alone, so thank you for your effort.” Tape 44 Side A. Wendy was quite clear from the trance state and talking to Barry when she gave a jump. “Somebody just touched me on the shoulder!” She had felt a distinct touch on her right shoulder, something that had not happened before during sittings.

19th May 04 6pm. Buried Alive? Taped 25 mins.

Wendy began to take on a distressed look, clutching and clawing her fingers. “The dirt! The dirt!” called the spirit, “I’m under the dirt!” This was a man who had been shot and buried. Whether he was alive when he was buried we will never know, but as far as he was concerned he was under the dirt. He calmed down when holding Barry’s hands and listening to his explanation of what was happening. A call for rescue was made and it was not long before he could see a light and an opening door. Eager to go, but not knowing how to until Barry said “Think yourself to the door, just think.” He did and went giving many thanks.

22nd May 04 6pm. Spiders/Goody Goodies.

Taped 20 mins.

This soul came to Wendy brushing spiders away. When Barry said “Hello” the soul said,“Shhhhhshhh! You’ll bring the spiders. ”With gentle questioning, Barry found out that his last memories were that he was lost in the bush and there were spiders. Eventually he came to realize his condition and that there were no spiders. With Barry’s guidance he began to see “A sun rising up!” Telling him to move towards this light, the rescue finished with gratitude from this unknown soul. Soon after, a spirit began to laugh in a derisive way. “Goody Goodies, hah! You won’t get me” followed by more laughing. This soul sounded so pleased with himself that he wasn’t going to go along with helping spirits that were trying to help. Barry adopted the “That’s ok, please yourself” attitude, but also told him that he was welcome to come back any time. Barry casually asked him if he ever thought things were strange around him. Had he ever wondered, “Where was the sun? Family, flowers etc?” This halted the spirit for a moment and he grudgingly admitted that he did. Then he suddenly changed completely saying, “Quick they have gone! Help me I don’t want them to know I want to go!” He told Barry he had a group of fellow travellers with him and they didn’t want anything to do with ’Goody Goodie helpers’ He was afraid what they would do to him if they found out he wanted to go with these helpers. Barry quickly helped him through the rescue procedure. It was not to long before he saw “A sun rising in the corner!” He thanked Barry and quickly moved towards this light. A guide came then and said, “Well done, well done my friends, thank you.

24th May 04 6pm. Melinda Taped 8 mins.

A little girl, Melinda, came to Wendy very frightened. Speaking softly she told Barry that she had lost her mother. Barry held her hands and said prayers to spirit to help this child. The familiar wave of ‘Goosebumps’ passed through him as it had before in other rescues, as a sign it seems of the coming of spirit help. Melinda began to see children playing and with Barry’s urging she went to them. As a guide was thanking them, Barry asked. “Why is it that these innocents are lost?” “It is usually because of their swift passing my friend. We are not aware quickly enough in these cases, but they are always found eventually.”

1st June 04 7pm. Wilderness man. Taped 10 mins.

This soul came to Wendy very slowly. There were many minutes of body adjustments so to speak before Barry was sure the soul was settled. When Barry spoke, the spirit seemed to hear but just kept fidgeting, wriggling his tongue and pursing his lips. He started to show signs of distress so Barry took hold of his hands. This brought an immediate response as the soul clutched tightly to Barry’s hands. He indicated by gesture that he could not speak or apparently hear, this is why Barry’s hands were so welcome. Knowing he could not assist in his own rescue, Barry began the rescue procedure himself. In time, a relaxed sigh was given from this soul and he could obviously see something. Patting his hand, Barry told him to go towards whatever he could see. Afterwards, a guide/helper came to Wendy, opened her eyes and looked at Barry. This guide said, “Thank you for helping us save this soul. He was living alone in the wilderness but finally succumbed to nature. We had to bring him to you and are sorry for the feelings that Wendy had, we apologize.” “Please don’t apologize for these!” Barry replied laughing. This remark pleased the guide as he gave a big smile and nodded in thanks.

6th June 04 6pm. Christopher. Taped 10 mins.

Christopher, or Chris as he preferred, was totally confused as to where he was. A man in his thirties, he remembered only going to bed feeling sick. Barry gave him full explanations to which he accepted reasonably easy and the rescue began. Chris saw a doorway open and people waving from within. He was eager to go and Barry wished him well. A guide came with a short thank you soon after.

7th June 04 6.10pm. A timid lady. Taped 10 mins.

A very frightened soft voice began calling, “Can anybody help me?” It was a woman who could not remember her name but that someone had hit her over the head. While talking, she told Barry that she had a sister who had died, and if she was dead then she would like to see her sister. The rescue procedure continued and soon she was seeing a light rising and the darkness fading. She could also hear singing, “I liked to sing,” she said. Then she saw her sister coming, a great relief to her. Barry told her to go her and the rescue was over. When the guide/helper came, it was to say, “She is a timid little lady”.

5th April 04. 6pm. Kept in a dungeon. Taped 10 mins.

A very traumatic and sad rescue began, one which Wendy had felt coming on her for hours. For most of the afternoon, Wendy was feeling tired and having ‘Neck flutters’ which is a sign to her that an unusual spirit contact is about to happen. Barely able to do the dishes after the evening meal, she was in trance as soon as she sat down for contact. The rescue method that Barry uses had to be changed for this one, he had to pray for help from the spirit guides for the soul who was incapable of doing it for himself. The following record is verbatim. The cries of anguish to be imagined by the reader.

Barry. ‘Hello. I missed what you said.’ (Three unclear words)

Spirit. ‘I am really tired.’ (In an exhausted, soft voice)

B. ‘Where are you my friend, can you see?’

S. ‘………….I don’t know.

’B. ‘Do you remember anything at all?’ Long pause.

S. ‘I was kept in a house, locked in a dungeon!’

​B. ‘that’s what it feels like ………’ (Barry thinks at this stage that the spirit is talking about the lower astral levels.) S. ‘That’s where I was,………nothing to eat………..no one came……YES, I WAS KIDNAPPED! (Rising to a near scream) I think I ………am dying. I am so tired.’ (In a whisper)

B. ‘Are you in darkness?

’S. ‘I…..saw a light.’ (Wendy said later that she could ‘See’ him crawling to a light.)

B. ‘All right then, I’m going to hold your hand, you don’t mind?’ (The spirit clutches Barry’s hand gratefully.) Now, will you listen to what I have to say to you?(The soul weakly nods and clutches Barry’s hand tighter.)‘My friend, you have left your earthly life behind, you have left your physical body, you have died. You are about to enter the spirit world properly.’(The soul gives a sigh of relief, sobbing as Barry talks.) ‘Soon, things will become brighter and spirit people will come to you. They will care for you, they will love you, and they will show you the wonders of what you may call Heaven. Now I want you to say out loud with me these words………’ Barry tries to get the soul to call for spirit helpers, but after a few attempts it is obvious that this soul is too exhausted. For the first time in any rescue, he prays to the guides. Taking hold of both of Wendy’s hands, he said:

B. ‘Dear Lord, spirit friends, we have a friend who is in desperate need of your help. He has placed himself in our care, we surround him with love. Please come to him.’ At this point, Barry feels a ‘Wave’ pass through him, a ‘Goose bump’ effect, and a definite emotion. Then the soul looked up, an expression of hope on Wendy’s face, and gave a soft gasp.

B. ‘You can see something can’t you?

’S. ‘Y…….yes!

’B. ‘They are coming for you?

’S. ‘Y…..YES! (A deep sob of relief)

B. ‘I will let your hands go now. Go with them, they will take you to a place of wonders and beauty. They will care for you from this moment on. Just relax, go with them, goodbye and God bless you. ’Quietly crying, he goes. Wendy said much later that for some reason she felt ‘Switzerland’ with this case, but whether that has any connection is unknowable. It wasn’t long before a guide came, and in a sadder voice than usual said,

S. ‘God bless you my friends. He was willing, so we could lift him.

’B. ‘That was rather pitiful wasn’t it’?

S. ‘I don’t know….. and still can’t understand how Man can do such things to Man. We are most grateful for your help and apologize for any inconvenience caused to your medium. This was a much-deserved case I must say. Thank you once again, we will leave you now with God’s blessings, thank you.’ It took a while for Wendy to feel normal again, and Barry wasn’t much better either. The sadness of this rescue can only be appreciated by listening to the audiotape.

Tape 41 Side A.

6th April 04. 6pm. A man asleep. Taped 10 mins.

This spirit came quickly to Wendy and said in a level voice, “What has happened to me?”It was established that he had apparently died in his sleep. He was forty-years old and lived alone and was very mystified why he died when he wasn’t sick. Barry suggested that maybe a stroke or heart attack? This seemed reasonable to him. He could not remember his name. After Barry explained things to him, he too it very well, and Barry commenced the rescue procedure. It wasn’t long before the expression on the souls face changed and this told Barry that it was going to be successful. “I can see a bridge, lights and people on the other side,” he said. Barry urged him on and he entered his new life. When a guide came, it was to say that all would be well. He commented on how sensible this soul was, to which Barry agreed.

7th April. 04. 6pm. ‘Hellfire and damnation’ Taped 10 mins.

“Hellfire and damnation is what you’ll get!” Barry thought “Oh Oh, better start softening up this soul “as it certainly was another rescue.

S. ‘You and your bibles, where am I?

”B. ‘Hello friend, having trouble are you?

’S. ‘Didn’t believe them anyway, look where it got me! I’m probably mad.’ Barry begins to explain things and assures him he isn’t mad. S. ‘I was told it was Heaven but it aint nothing like Heaven.’ Barry continues on, the soul is at least listening to him. S. ‘Well I expect so, but this Heaven business isn’t around me!

’B. ‘Not yet.

’S. ‘You look like a light on a post.’ When Barry told him he was talking through Wendy, he went into gales of laughter.

S. ‘You know what I would have said don’t you? But I better be a gentleman. (Still laughing) The wife was always telling me to be a nicer person or I would go to hell, I think she was right.’ As Barry had him looking around as part of the rescue procedure, the soul gave an intake of breath and an anguished look came on Wendy’s face.

B. ‘What can you see?’

S. ‘My old dad!’ (Voice breaking up) I’m sorry dad! I was a bit rough around the edges’ (Moans)

B. ‘Now listen to me. Your new life in the spirit world is about to begin. If you go to your dad or mother, or whoever you see, they will take you to a place of wonders.’

S. ‘How can I tell them I’m sorry?’ (Crying),

B. ‘That is all you have to do, say it. Your earthly life and all its problems and all the characteristics that caused you problems, are gone. Now you will be shown the true nature of life.

’S. ‘He is saying I can come.

’B. ‘I want you to open your arms to your father and go to him right now. As you do, you will see it getting lighter. I say to you now, God bless you friend, go to your father.

’S. ‘Thank you.’ After a minute or two, the soul came back.

S. ‘I can’t!

’B. ‘What is stopping you?’ (Very surprised at this).

S. ‘I’m not worthy.

’B. ‘Let me assure you, can you see anyone else besides your father?

’S. Yes……………They look like Angels, very bright.

’B. ‘They are high spirit beings, and their purpose in coming is to help and explain things to you. You will then know what you need to commence your new life. They will give you rest and care for you. Regardless of what you have done or think you have done, those things are of the earth condition. Remember the words of Jesus, “Forgive them father, they know not what they do” That is behind you now, go forward. You will do your father a great service if you go to him.

’S. ‘I will now, I will.

’B. ‘Think yourself to your father, arms out to him. Put your arms around him then go with him. The soul does and gives a deep sigh of relief. B. ‘Goodbye my friend, goodbye.’ (Patting his hand).

8th April 04. 6pm. Jeffery. Taped 10mins.

Jeffery had committed suicide because of his stuttering. Wendy was stuttering so bad it was difficult for Barry to understand the soul’s plight for a while. Calming him down and explaining that he need not stutter anymore, Jeffery began to speak more clearly as he left this earth condition behind, but not completely. As he participated in the rescue, he suddenly saw his uncle, mother, and then others. Barry urged him on and shortly after a guide gave thanks and said that “It is a very happy reunion.”

9th April 04. 5.50pm. Little girl and her dog. Taped 10 mins.

A little girl came to Wendy clutching her dog. Wendy had the feeling of an accident with this one. The child was very frightened and the presence of the dog was a great comfort to her. Barry soothed her and at her request patted the dog. As the child was too young to participate in the rescue, Barry prayed for her. It wasn’t too long before she became excited a she saw “A man standing on a rainbow!” As Barry was explaining who this man might be, the dog took off towards him. The child was upset about this and asked Barry could she go as well? And of course she did. When a guide came, it was with humbleness. They were annoyed with themselves for letting her slip through, not seeing her. They offered their apologies and seemed depressed. Barry asked jokingly if he and Wendy could get a job over there doing this work. The guide laughed and replied “Indeed." As far as the ‘Man standing on a rainbow’ is concerned, Barry feels that the spirit helpers presented that view knowing that it would appeal to a young child?

10th April 04 6.15pm. Ellen Taped 10 mins.

Barry’s back was giving him trouble so they decided not to sit for spirit contact tonight, they would just read instead. This didn’t seem to worry spirit as within twenty minutes Wendy was in trance. Ellen was a fifty-year old who had been ill. She knew she had died but did not know how to move on. She had a lovely soft voice and was very accepting of her condition. Barry guided her through the rescue and it was not long before the expression on Wendy’s face told him that someone was there for her. In an unbelieving tone of voice Ellen said, “OH, it’s my husband!” She wasted little time going to him giving thanks to Barry as she went. A guide came and said, “We apologize for any inconvenience, but we were sure you would not mind” Barry replied with “It is never an inconvenience “ “Good, for they are a much in love couple” the guide said. It seems that some rescues are arranged by higher spirit beings and not all souls are completely on their own.

12th April 04 6pm. Gloria. Taped 10 mins.

Gloria was desperate to find her daughter and was tired from searching. Her last memories were of a car trip, so it would seem that she was killed in a car accident. Barry explained her situation, but she was more concerned about her daughter than herself. Barry assured her that her daughter would grow and ultimately join her in the spirit life. This was premature as during the rescue, the daughter appeared to her. They had obviously been killed together. Gloria was more than relieved, then said. “I can see a garden, it’s beautiful! People are waving, can we go to them?” The rescue was over. Wendy was concerned about this rescue, as earlier in the day she had been reading about a ‘Gloria, and a garden’ and was thinking the similarity was suspect. Barry thought it was just impossible to tell, all they could was watch out for any similar events. But it would be irresponsible not to do a rescue on a vague suspicion. If at a later time they found out somehow that it was a genuine call for help and they had not responded, then they would feel very bad indeed. In other words, there is more to gain than to lose.

21st April 04. 5.50pm. Three rescues Taped 20 mins.

The first rescue was of a young woman named Cindy, who remembered a fire. She was so weak Barry had to ask for spirit help. Soon, Cindy began to whisper that she was floating, floating up, and then obviously saw someone who cheered her and she left with quiet farewells. A young man came next; he was involved in a fight where knives were used. He was lost, in darkness but not too disorientated. After a talk with Barry, he saw a door open with light streaming through. There were people calling to him and waving he said, so he went eagerly with thanks to Barry. Augustus was an old man and he came calling “Jesus! Jesus!” As Barry was explaining things to him, Wendy, even though in trance came out of it partially and told Barry she could smell a pot burning in the kitchen. When Barry returned Augustus was gone. Some ten minutes later he returned saying “Someone chased him away”. Barry continued talking to him and had him call for help from spirit friends. Eventually he saw his wife. This was such a shock for him, a wonderful shock. Near crying, he rushed to his wife’s arms. Afterwards a guide came laughing, “Oh I do love these reunions! They are so much in love.”

24th April 04. 6pm. Achmed / Annie / Bert. Taped 20 mins.

Wendy’s posture became very stiff and stern so Barry expected a very serious spirit, he was right. “My name is Achmed” said in a very firm manner. Achmed was a soldier, obviously killed on the battlefield, and he said he was hiding. He was on a battlefield surrounded by the dead. When asked, he told Barry it was 1945 and he was Iranian. Barry couldn’t remember much of Iran’s history so it was hard to ask the right questions on this. Thinking Achmed may have the year wrong, he asked about Iraq and the war between those two countries but Achmed had no knowledge of Iraq so it wasn’t 1985 either. Barry then asked was he a Muslim? To his surprise again Achmed said he wasn’t but the war was a holy one though. He was every bit the patriotic, honour filled soldier. The most perplexing (It was the first time) thing was that Achmed said it was daylight where he was, he could see the bodies etc. Barry just carried on with the normal procedure and hoped for the best. After a while, Achmed said he could see a light spreading, the dead were rising he said. Achmed told Barry that he and the dead were starting to make their way to this light. He gave formal thanks to Barry and was gone. Soon after this, Annie, a soul that had seemingly just passed away, came to Wendy in an extremely tired state. Annie could see her children and family gathered around her body. Barry felt that she knew she had died but was so debilitated she was just too tired to care much. Because of this tiredness, Barry called for spirit to help her himself, Annie was too weak. They came and assured Barry that they had her and she would be cared for and left giving much thanks. Because these prayers were successful, Barry has looked at prayers anew, he wasn’t really a prayer person in general but thinks differently now. The last rescue for the evening was Bert. He came coughing his lungs out so to speak.“Arghhh! They told me about cigarettes” he said with a chuckle. Bert was another obvious Australian and had been sick for a long time. He knew he had died or guessed it. It was fairly easy for Barry to help him and it wasn’t long before Bert could see a door opening in the darkness. That was all he needed and away he went with a cheery goodbye. It must be said that Bert coughed continuously at the start but steadied himself slowly as Barry explained that it was unnecessary in his new body.

25th April 04. 6pm. Everette, a young man. Taped 10 mins.

Everette, or similar, wanted to draw so paper and pen were provided. He drew a few lines then said quietly that he had forgotten how to draw. On questioning, Everette had little memory of anything except he liked to draw. Another soul suffering from a long time in darkness. He was too weak to participate in his rescue so Barry conducted things, saying a prayer for spirit help etc. It was hard for Barry to know if he was being successful as Everette was slumped in the chair and was very unresponsive by now. He finally raised his head and gave a sigh. Wendy sat very still and Barry was expecting Everette to say he was still there. She sat up straight and a guide came and said that they had him. “A very sad case, he has been lost for a long time but he will be all right now. Thank you once again friends.”

29th April 04 6pm. Nine visitors / Blending.

This was a very tiring night for Wendy with about nine separate spirit visitors appearing. It began with three soul rescues and ends with spirit obviously preparing Wendy for a blending of themselves in a more normal way than trance. The following is a condensed version of the evening’s events, but a full record on audiotape. An old man came complaining that Barry had woke him by prodding him. It seemed that spirit helpers had arranged this for his awakening perhaps? He told Barry of remembering being in a coma following some sort of accident. A practical man, he had little difficulty accepting Barry’s explanation, and joined in the prayer for his release from darkness. He gave a deep sigh of wonderment as he saw his daughter Julie. “An Angel then as now”. He tearfully went with her giving his thank you’s to Barry. A very young, apprehensive voice spoke next asking Barry if he could help him as he had just done with that other man? “The door closed before I could get to it”. His name was Nathan and he remembered great pain after riding on the rear seat of a motorcycle. Nathan was just as eager as the previous visitor and Barry had little difficulty rescuing him from the dark. Nathan saw the door open and with a quick thank you was gone. Next came a guide who was excited and gave heartfelt thanks to Wendy and Barry saying, “What a party will be waiting here for you when you come! All these people will make themselves known to you, and we will be here also, you will remember us when you see us” After a few minutes another spirit introduced himself as Justin. In a serious voice he said that he just had to take the opportunity to come and express his appreciation of what Wendy and Barry were doing and told of the gratitude of others. A distinctly female guide followed with much the same words so Barry jokingly said,“ I hope you will have a job over there for us?” Laughingly she replied, “It may not be this work but you will be doing something.” Some medium friends had recently remarked that they thought Wendy was being prepared for spirit to be present without the need for trance. At this point in the evening it did begin to look that way. A spirit entity began to blend with her and she opened her eyes and looked around. As the spirit turned to look at Barry who at that point welcomed him, he lifted his finger slightly in a gesture that meant ‘Wait’. This went on for a while until the spirit said, “I’m sure you know what is happening?” Barry said, “A blending with Wendy so as to come to her in a more natural way?” The spirit nodded and said he would come again. There was a fifteen-minute break for Wendy, although she wasn’t entirely clear of spirit before it all started again. This time the feeling for Barry was that a different spirit was present, Wendy agreeing later. This ‘Blending went on and of till about eight pm before they were gone again. Immediately Wendy took on the posture that indicates to Barry that some figure of ‘Authority’ was about to speak. A very strong, loud voice gave his thanks and apologized for any inconvenience. This was definitely a ‘higher spirit’ to Barry, Wendy saying the same afterwards. Another tiring session for Wendy, but one where they both felt that a ‘Stage’ had been reached. Once again, time will tell.

11th June 04 6pm. Allan Buckingham / Helena.

In all of the spirit contacts that Wendy has had, Barry has never really worried about being attacked by some aggressive soul. The way this rescue started out, he thought that might be about to change. A sneer came to Wendy’s face, an aggressive look. Then a spirit said with malice,

S. ‘Ahh, a smarty pants eh?’

B. ‘Helloooo there friend.’ (Said with amusement)S. ‘Who are you?’ Are you smarty pants friend?

’B. ‘No, I don’t know who smarty pants is, my name is Barry and I think you are……..

’S. ‘I am evil!’

B. ‘I don’t think so.’

S. ‘Mmmm, you don’t know me.’ (The spirit was trying on a savage grin, but on Wendy’s face it was not working.)

B. ‘And I suppose you never get confused as to where you are?

’S. ‘Never! I know where I am.

’B. ‘Where are you friend?

’S. ‘You want me to say Hell don’t you?’ (A knowing tone of voice).

B. ‘No such place, it’s all in your mind. Where do you think you are?

’S. ‘Hell!

’B. ‘Hell! You know Hell is where we make it, we make our own Hell.

’S. ‘Well I’m making a good one, and I’m going to take it all with me.’ Barry laughs.

S. ‘What are you laughing at?’ (Angry)

B. ‘You know, I’ve heard all this before. Do you know what has happened to you, can you tell me?

’S. ‘I’m dead, I know that, you think I’m mad don’t you, didn’t think I knew that did you?’ Yeah, well you can get around them (?)

B. ‘Well the truth is you have died and to your astonishment you have discovered there is no death, haven’t you?

’S. ‘I feel pretty much alive even though I’m dead. I’m still King of the cock you can say.

’B. ‘Tell me, is the sun shining where you are, is it light?

’S. ‘No it’s foggy, and I can hide!’ (Rubbing hands together in glee) If I say BOO! They jump.’ (The evil grin had not left her face).

B. ‘How many flowers can you see?

’S. ‘I don’t like flowers!, anyway I don’t want them.

’B. ‘You might like to know that you are in a condition created by your mind in part, you are in the lower astral.

’S. ‘I’ve got a good mind, it might be evil but it’s good.’ (Malice continues in the voice)

B. ‘You will excuse for laughing. ’S. ‘What are you laughing at! I MEAN IT! ’B. ‘Yes I know you do, but I will say this and let you go on your way. One day you will wonder, is there more than this? Where is the sun, the light? Where are the trees and flowers, my friends and so on? One day you will really want to know, and if you come back here, I will tell you.’ Suddenly a look of anguish appears on Wendy’s face, her posture of aggression slumps and she begins to cry.

S. ‘I didn’t mean it, I want somebody.

’B. ‘Never mind, tell me something about yourself, what is your name?

’S. ‘Al…All….Allan Buckingham. I didn’t mean to be so nasty, I just want somebody to……….’(Sobbing)

B. ‘All right Allan, just listen to me and I will tell you what has happened. You know you have died…….

’S. ‘I had to, I was real mean.

’B. ‘All right, forget that, it was part of your earth life which you have now left, you are now at the beginning of a new spirit life. Where you are is a creation of your mind, it’s real but has been brought about by your attitudes and your knowledge. Now, the real spirit life is one of beauty, light and friends. It’s beautiful and you are going………

’S. ‘I would like to be beautiful for a change.’ (Voice breaking up with grief)

B. ‘Listen to me friend, I am alive on earth, I haven’t died…………..

’S. ‘I thought you were different.

’B. ‘You are speaking to me through my wife.

’S. ‘That’s little miss smarty pants?

’B. ‘Yes little miss smarty-pants, she is not very big that’s true. (Laughing) She is a medium, she has the ability to allow people like you to speak through her. We do this all the time and there really is nothing mysterious about it. Now let’s set about bringing you some help, let’s bring you into the light so you can begin a new life of happiness and wonder.

’S. ‘Please.

’B. ‘I want you to say some words with me…………

’S. ‘I wasn’t religious.

’B. ‘Doesn’t matter, these words create a sound if you like, a sound that spirit helpers can hear. It is quite simply that no one can find you, do you understand this?

’S. ‘Yes.’ It turned out that he was found, but would not respond to spirit help. He was led so to speak to Wendy in the hope that she could help. Allan repeated the prayer after Barry firmly. B. ‘Look around Allan Buckingham, look around and tell me what you are seeing.’

S. ‘The…………fog is lifting!

’B. ‘Not as foggy? then you may see a light rising or perhaps it’s getting brighter, is it warmer?

’S. ‘I see a door

!’B. ‘Ahh! This is it Allan, once the door opens………..

’S. ‘I’m a bit frightened, will you come with me?

’B. ‘You must know I can’t go through that door Allan because I am still living. That door leads to your new life Allan; can you see a light there?

’S. ‘A bright…..sun.

’B. ‘Lets move towards it.’ (Taking his hand)

S. ‘I didn’t mean to be nasty.

’B. ‘I didn’t take it that way Allan.’ Holding his hand, Barry pulls him in the fashion of leading him. B. ‘You are at the door Allan (Whispering) pass through. I hope to hear from you again one day, good-bye.

’S. ‘Thank you.’ Allan looked peaceful as he went to the doorway. Barry settled back looking forward to a break when suddenly a frightened woman’s voice called out Helena.

S. ‘Hello?’

B. ‘Hello, who are you?

’S. ‘That man was nasty to me, I’m glad he’s gone. Can you help me too please?

’B. ‘Yes I can. Were you listening to what took place?

’S. ‘I was hiding (Very scared) but I could see what was happening.

’B. ‘Could you hear what was being said?

’S. ‘Yes. I don’t want to be here, I just don’t know what is happening to me. I don’t think I was nasty.

’B. ‘You are a lady?

’S. ‘Yes.

’B. ‘Do you mind if I take your hand?’ Taking her hand brings obvious relief to this soul. B. ‘Can you remember your name?

’S. ‘Helena I think.

’B. ‘Do you remember anything Helena, were you sick?

’S. ‘I just remember hiding from everybody, I might have been sick.

’B. ‘Helena listen to me, you have passed away, you have died.

’S. ‘Yes.

’B. ‘You also now know that there is life after death, that there is no death. The biggest thing that is upsetting now is this unpleasant place. Helena, this is brought about by lack of knowledge of the true afterlife and the condition of your mind.

’S. ‘I understand.

’B. ‘You are in the lower spirit levels. Most of us pass through these quickly, but for many reasons some get lost in them.

’S. ‘Yes I think I got lost.

’B. ‘There are spirit helpers who help people when they pass over to their new life, but they can’t find you. You are lost to them. Helena, I haven’t died and you are speaking through my wife………….

’S. ‘This is hard to understand.

’B. ‘I’m sure you know what a medium is?

’S. ‘Yes I do know, but haven’t ever been to one.

’B. ‘It doesn’t matter. You and I are going to summon help for you right now.’ At this moment, Helena loses her anxiety, she is watching something. B. ‘You can see something?

’S. ‘Mmmm, it’s a wonderful feeling.’ (Dreamy).

B. ‘Just look around Helena as you listen to me.’ Barry begins to ask for help, as she is too vague to participate at this time.

S. ‘Yes! Yes! It’s better, it’s warm, light…….THERE’S AN ANGEL! AN ANGEL!……..They don’t have wings……

’B. ‘No they don’t, it’s really light isn’t it?

’S. ‘Yes.

’B. ‘Go to the Angel Helena, don’t walk just think yourself moving towards the Angel. The Angel is a spirit being of light that will take you on to your new spirit life. You will see loved ones who have gone before, you are beginning a new existence. Will you go now?

’S. ‘Yes, thank you.

’B. ‘Goodbye Helena.’ A very softly spoken spirit came with,

S. ‘Thank you friends, rewards will be yours, bless you.’

B. ‘Well I’m glad they were successful.’ (Barry is a bit stressed by this time)

S. ‘Most difficult. With the first one, we had been trying for some time to attract his attention. We have him and will look after him now. Thank you my friends.

’B. ‘Thanks for telling us this, goodbye friend.’

Tape 45 Side A (Last)

13th June 04 6pm. Cerebral Palsy. Taped 5 mins.

Wendy’s hands became claw like, crippled. This was an indication to Barry that another difficult rescue was to happen. It wasn’t difficult, just sad. Wendy’s tongue began lolling out of her mouth and she was uttering garbled words. Barry could see this soul was lost and confused so he began the prayers to spirit quickly. The moment he took hold of this poor souls hands there was a sigh of relief from him. He or she, it was hard to tell at this stage, but as the prayers were said he could see something that excited him. Spirit help had arrived and it was clear that this soul was eager to go. Barry urged him gently, patting his hand as he did so. A female spirit guide came with, “A very sad case, thank you. It was Cerebral Palsy, very sad but he will be fine now. Thank you dear friends.”

14th June 04 6pm. Allan returns / Mentally disabled.

Taped 10 mins.

Allan Buckingham came back to say how sorry he was for the way he acted. He was weak but very happy, “Being cared for by Angels” he said. Allan didn’t stay long, just a thank you call. A guide said later that he was so sorry they gave him permission to return and give Wendy and Barry his thanks. A few minutes later, Wendy seemed to shrink in posture, she began scratching her head. This scratching went on for so long, Barry started talking just to distract the soul from scratching. He also guessed correctly that this was a rescue. The spirit mumbled on about a sore head, or something was in her head. It was a young girl or woman that was all Barry could get. When he offered his hand, she recoiled saying “No, no”. But with coaxing he held her hands, and with tentative touches she held his. It was clear that Barry was going to have to do the rescue work himself, as this soul seemed incapable. A few minutes later she could see something; it held her attention and pleased her. Barry urged her on with kind words and it was over. A guide came with quite a strong voice, saying that the soul had a mental disability. They had brought her Wendy in the hope of raising her awareness and therefore to be helped. Many thanks were given as the guide left.

16th June 04 6.15pm. Asian soul. Taped 5 mins.

A worried look came on Wendy’s face, her hands took on the praying position and this alerted Barry that it was going to be another rescue. The spirit began to speak in what sounded like a Southeast Asian language. He or she was distressed and Barry could not understand what was being said, neither did his words register with the spirit. When he took hold of her hands there was the usual effect of relief, the soul clutching eagerly. Barry called for spirit help, this was quick in coming and the poor soul was on her way. The guide that came with thanks said, “We are sorry about the language problem but this was an emergency, we knew you would not mind.” Often the guides or helpers are in a bit of a hurry and questions are not always possible.

14th March 04. 6pm. Heather, Baby and Angel.

Taped 7 mins.

Once again, a soul rescue. Wendy and Barry have no idea why these are so prevalent, or so many in a short period of time. This one began with a woman asking for her baby (Like the previous Lady, only this one was totally obsessed with the baby) and was extremely distressed, in the dark and constantly asking Barry for her baby. Barry began his procedure with difficulty as ‘Heather’ kept interrupting about “Where is my baby?” Finally he was able to lift the darkness, and to her eyes an Angel appeared carrying her baby. Heather was frantic to get to the baby and ‘Ran’ sobbing with relief. A difficult and dramatic rescue. A guide came and agreed it was difficult but said that Heather would be fine from now on.

19th March 04. 6pm. Dying man. Taped 7 mins.

A soul rescue with a difference. This man was dying or had died when he came to Wendy, it certainly seemed so at the time. Barry said that he was sure it was on ‘The border-line’ of both before he passed into spirit. Wendy became distressed started moaning, a sure sign that a rescue was coming up. Reaching for Barry’s hand, moaning and shivering, the soul repeated over and over “I’m dying” Barry succeeded in getting him (And it was a man) calmed down and asked what happened and where was he. A car accident and he was still inside the wrecked vehicle. Barry explained to him what was happening, but he then became distressed again for his family. He then gave a deep sigh and said that the pain had gone. This was the transition point Wendy and Barry felt and from this moment he was in spirit. It may not have been the case but things did proceed more smoothly from this moment onwards. Eventually after much calming and re-assuring from Barry, his loved ones and others arrived. He was speechless and overcome that he saw people that he knew. At Barry’s urging he went to them thanking and squeezing Barry’s hand, although it seemed like he did not want to let go. The guides came again with thanks and confirmed that everything would be all right.

23rd March 04. 6.10 pm. Paul the Aussie. Taped 10 mins.

Here is an example that soul rescues need not be dismal affairs, and therefore is recorded here in full. This one had Barry laughing from the start, and Wendy, once out of trance was no better. As the spirit came to her, she began shrugging her shoulders and raising her eyebrows with an ‘Oh well.’ Expression. In a pure Australian accent (An ‘Ocker’ accent really) the spirit said quite strongly:

S. ‘So I screwed up, what do I do now?

’B. ‘Hello friend.’ (Laughing at the down to earth style)

S. ‘Where the hell am I, can you tell me?

’B. ‘Things are a bit dark around you are they?

’S. ‘Arrr………you can say that again!

’B. ‘What can you remember about screwing up, why did you say that?’ The spirit indicates putting a rope around his neck and makes a comical choking noise.

S. ‘Stupid I tell yah! Arrrhhh……….how can one be so stupid!

’B. ‘And you can remember all that can you?

’S. ‘Arrrhh, only did it for a joke, but it wasn’t a joke was it! Ohh! What do I do now, am I dead?

’B. ‘Well my friend, you have left the earthly life behind, and yes, you are dead as you put it. However, you are in for a great surprise.

’S. ‘Nothing surprises me these days I can tell yah!

B. ‘You are about to find out that there is no death, life continues.

’S. ‘Even for one like me? I’m a bit of a larrikin I s’pose.

’B. ‘You are also an Australian aren’t you?’ (Laughing still).

S. ‘Mmmm … seems familiar.

’B. ‘Well I’m an Aussie and I can recognize one. You are talking like me.

’S. ‘Am I?

’B. ‘Well what happens now my friend, is regardless of the sad event that took your life, your new life will continue on from now. What will happen is that someone will come for you. You are in a place where simply put, people can’t find you.

’S. ‘You mean I’ve got to be an Angel and all that stuff?

’B. ‘Eventually, but that is a long way down the track.’ (Still laughing).

S. ‘But its gunna be a long way down the track I tell yah!

’B. ‘You’ll do well, you have the right attitude.

’S. ‘I’ve got a kind heart I s’pose, but I’ve done things I shouldn’t have done. Me mates are gunna laugh at me I tell yah!

’B. ‘Were you young, middle-aged, old? bit hard for me to guess.

’S. ‘Arrr….early thirties I guess.

’B. ‘Liked a beer?

’S. ‘Cor! Sure did! Motorbike and all the stuff, you know?’ Mmmm…… only did it to trick my mates but I think they tricked me don’t you?’ Never mind, tell me what to do and I’ll push off.

’B. ‘You will do well my friend.

’S. ‘Ahh, that’s good, that’s good.

’B.’ As I said, before your new life begins, you are in a place where it can be difficult for people to find you. Now …

’S. ‘Haw! , No doubt, that would be right!’ (Laughs)

B. ‘People……..

’S. ‘HEY! THERE”S MUM! HEY! GIDDAY MUM! (Very excited) Can I go? Arrr! Gee, thanks mate, gee, she looks beautiful she does.

’B. ‘Go to your mum friend, bye.

’S. ‘See yah mate! ‘ About ten minutes later as Wendy and Barry were talking and laughing about the rescue, Wendy was suddenly in trance again, the happy-go-lucky soul was back.

S. ‘Gidday mate.

’B. ‘Hello’ (Laughing too much to say more)

S. ‘It’s me again. They said I could come back, and I’m telling yah it’s bloody wonderful here.

’B. ‘Isn’t it just.

’S. ‘Awww, it really is heaven mate. Me mum is so gorgeous, you should see her! Awww mate thanks mate.

’B. ‘Before you go, I’ll have to tell this story to our friends, will you tell me your name?

’S. ‘Well me names Paul.’

B. ‘Good enough.

’S. ‘Yeah, that’ll do mate, just remember the old Paul. Thanks mate.

’B. ‘You are going to do well Paul, goodbye.’ (Laughing still)

S. ‘They say I’ll have to help people, but by jingo when you see this joint, Ill be right there with em I tell yah!’

B. ‘Good on you Paul.’

S. ‘See yah mate.’ Again, ten minutes later a guide came with, S. ‘Please forgive the intrusion my friend, but he was so happy-go- lucky as you say, we just had to give him the chance. He was so pleased, so happy, I’ve never seen anyone one like it for a long time.’

B. ‘Well that was memorable and it cheered Wendy and I up considerably.’

S. ‘Indeed. They are not very happy things these soul rescues and we understand your feelings.’

B. ‘This is the best one.’

S. ‘We hope we are not imposing on you too much, but you are a Godsend to us. There are a lot of souls we cannot reach but if it is taxing you at all, we will………’

B. ‘No, I’m made of tough stuff my friend.’ (Laugh)

S. ‘This is good to hear. We all thank you sincerely and I wish to add my personal thanks. It is wonderful when we get a soul that is so happy.’

B. ‘He cheered everyone up didn’t he!’

S. ‘He did indeed, and I think he will do great work. Even though it was just an accident, he doesn’t seem to mind at all.’ (Guide Laughing)

B. ‘Thanks for telling us this, goodbye friend.’

S. ‘God bless.’

Tape 40 Side A.

24th March. 04 Father Martin. Taped 10 mins.

This was the rescue of Father Martin, a Catholic priest. A very subdued man, he was greatly perplexed of where he was. He was an honest man by the sound of it and acknowledged that his religion did not prepare him for this. A gentle dialogue ensued between him and Barry. Father Martin listened to Barry with full attention, commenting now and then. Barry said later that he felt like a priest himself there was he was counselling the Father. There was no trouble at all getting him to follow Barry’s instructions, and very quickly he saw a bright light. The light showed his friends who were waving to him, gesturing to him to come to them. He left Barry with deep appreciation saying that he ‘Felt like a lost sheep’. Both Barry and Wendy felt a kind of sadness in the fact that a man’s life-long study and practice of Catholicism did nothing for him at the end of his life.

22nd March 04. 6pm. ‘Gun Suicide’ Taped 15 mins.

Wendy raised a gun to her head and pulled the trigger. This re-enactment definitely told Barry that they had another rescue on their hands. A distressed young man who had shot himself from a broken heart. His girlfriend had left him and he could not go on. He was in misery and of course darkness, and asked Barry to help him. When asked his name, he shook his head violently saying, “I don’t remember or want to remember anything of what happened.” becoming more upset. Barry had to take charge and be quite firm with him, firmer than usual. Just when it seemed like it was going to be unsuccessful, Phillip, a friend of the young man appeared. This was the breakthrough and the grieving young man apart from being stunned by his appearance, was greatly comforted. He uttered a quick thank you to Barry and went to Phillip.Twenty-five minutes later, Wendy went into trance again and Phillip came to her. He said that his friend was safe now and was sleeping. He would sleep until he was more able to cope with what had happened. Phillip had lost his own life in a car accident but seemed much adjusted to the spirit life judging by his manner. After giving profuse thanks to both of them he left quickly.

1st May 04 6.10pm Sparigus. Taped 15 mins.

This was an ‘Other world’ contact of the type that Wendy had hosted numerous times before. By the entities own words this was a spirit contact, not a ‘Physical one’. He had died to his people and was in the spirit realm where with the help of Wendy’s guides he was able to communicate. The reason was for knowledge. It was so that mediums amongst his race could experience what Wendy was experiencing, contact with other beings. There was some difficulty when Barry asked, “What do you call yourselves, your race?” (This often is difficult for these types of beings.) After much thought, he said that the best translation would be ‘Sparigus or Sparigans.’ Even though this was not satisfactory to him it would have to do. His people were further along the evolution chain than us and were a very peaceful people, “Not like you.” He said kindly. A light general conversation followed, they breathed an atmosphere, similar in appearance to us, had families etc. The contact finished in a friendly way, Sparigus giving his thanks.

24th Feb. 04. 6pm. ‘Child rescue’ Taped 10 mins.

Another soul rescue of a young child, for some reason lost and frightened in the dark. Barry began the procedure and for a few minutes didn’t think he was going to be successful. Finally the child saw an Aunty coming towards her and became ecstatic. (Wendy nearly jumped out of the chair in excitement). When the child was gone, the guides came with thanks and confirmation that Barry’s techniques were the right ones.

5th March. 04. 6pm. ‘Freezing woman’ Taped 10 mins.

Wendy began to tremble excessively as this spirit came. What followed was another soul rescue, but because of its intenseness, it is recorded verbatim here.

S. ‘Cccc…..old! (Unable to speak hardly at all.)

B. ‘Are you freezing?’

S. ‘Co….ld!’ (Wendy is wrapping her arms about herself)

B. ‘Here, a blanket will help you.’ (After Barry places the blanket, the spirit, a woman it felt like, calmed down a bit) ‘Now tell me, is it light where you are or is it dark?’ The spirit doesn’t answer because of shivering. B. ‘Is it warmer now?’

S. ‘Y…ye…yes thank you.’

B. ‘Now, can you see around you, what can you see?’

S. ‘W…wh….who are you?’

B. ‘I’m a friend and you are with my wife, Wendy. You are actually talking through her, do you know where you are?’

S. ‘I cannot see anyone..Ohhhh!’ (Becomes more distressed)

B. ‘You are in the dark?’

S. ‘There is no one here, but it is not dark just…….darkish. Ohh! I am so cold, please, I need someone to hold me.’ (The woman is in tears) I need somebody, my, my heart is breaking, please help me!’

B. ‘Can you feel me hold your hands?’

S. ‘Mmmmmm.’B. ‘I know what the problem is and I am going to fix it easily.’ (He hoped) Will you help me and do what I say? Good. Where you are, people can’t find you, and there is a simple way to solve that. Now I ‘d like you to repeat some words after me, would you do that? Lovely. Now say after me, “Spirit friends, please come to me, I need your help”. Say it for me, ready, “Spirit friends, please come to me, I need your help.” The woman repeats the words very tearfully. B. ‘Right, now I want you to look around, you can see some parts getting lighter can’t you? It’s not as dark as it was, is it?

S. ‘I can see a fire! Can I go to it! Fire will make me warm, will someone there love me?’

B. ‘Ok, and when you get closer to the fire you will see some lovely people coming to you, look, can you see?’

S. ‘I can see the fire….THERE’S A MAN IN A WHITE DRESS!

B. ‘Yes I can imagine that! (Relieved)

S. ‘He’s got yellow hair……HE’S GOT A BIG FIRE ON HIS HEAD!……Is he a nice man? ’

B. ‘I think you might call him an Angel.’

S. ‘Does that mean I’m dead?’

B. ‘Well maybe to the Earth, but you are beginning a new life now and you are in for some pleasant surprises.’S. ‘Someone will love me now, will they? (Still tearful)B. ‘They will my dear, and just look at that lovely man coming towards you, walk to him sweetheart. I’m going to let go of your hands now, I want you to move towards him and that wonderful fire.’

S. ‘Oh yes, it’s lovely.’

B. ‘That’s it, that’s it. It’s getting warmer now isn’t it, not so cold?’

S. Thank you, thank you for helping me.’

B. ‘There you go, look beyond, there will be more people coming. Wendy and I say God bless to you and goodbye.’

S. ‘Thank you.’ (Spoken softly with a sigh).

Tape 39 Side A.

10th March 04. 6.15pm. ‘Lydia’ A soul rescue.

Taped 10 mins.

Soul rescues can be very stressful at times and it seems to be Wendy and Barry’s ‘Lot’ at the moment with another one coming shortly after sitting. Wendy became distressed as the lost soul named herself Lydia. She was desperate and crying over the loss of her baby girl and the absolute mess she had made of her life through drugs. Lydia was in darkness and did know she had died as she heard the ambulance men talking over her body. Barry calmed her and began the procedures for rescue. Thankfully, after some time, Lydia saw her grandmother. She begged her grandmother for forgiveness. Barry told her to move towards her grandmother, which she did gratefully. At least an hour later the guides came through quite strongly and gave their thanks and gave Barry confirmation that his methods were correct. They said not to be concerned if they did not come after these rescues as often things are going on, but always know that their utmost thanks are always sent.

13th March 04. 6pm Gentleman Jack. Another soul rescue, but this time it was for a charming old-fashioned gentleman. It is recorded here in its entirety because of the perfect manners of ‘Jack’. In a clear and firm voice, Jack said,

Spirit. ‘Good evening sir’

B. ‘Hello my friend.’

S. ‘My name is Jack, could you please tell me where I am?’

B. ‘Ahhh, Jack, I suspect I can tell where you are. Firstly, what can you see Jack?’

S. ‘Can I tell you where I think I am?’

B. ‘Certainly, go ahead.’

S. ‘I think I have……………..Died, would that be right?’

B. I would say to you that that is what has happened Jack. Now I would say also not to be alarmed………’

S. Oh I’m not, it’s just that I don’t know how to get to the next spot, know what I mean?’

B. ‘Yes Jack I do. My name is Barry and the lady your are speaking through is my wife Wendy.’

S. ‘How do you do Barry, hello Wendy.’

B. ‘We are both very familiar to this Jack, now to an earlier question, can you see anything around you?’

S. ‘It’s quite like twilight, not dark but not light either.’

B. ‘Can you remember what happened to you, were you ill?’

S. ‘I was ill, in a hospital.’

B. ‘ Jack, what happens now is that you are beginning a new life……….’

S. ‘I have some knowledge.’

B. ‘Well what happens is that immediately after the end of Earthly life, a person can find themselves literally in an area where no one can find them. Now, what is required is an effort by you, and this effort is very simple……………….’

S. ‘May I ask a question?’

B. ‘My word yes!’

S. ‘Would that be to ask for help?’

B. ‘You ask for help from the deepest recesses of your heart.’

S. ‘Oh, I would dearly love to see someone.’

B. ‘Well this is what I want you to say with your arms out wide, “Friends in spirit, please come to me I need your help.”

S. ‘I’ll do that gladly.’ Jack repeats the words.

B. ‘ Now the next thing is to look around your twilight and look for somewhere that is not so dark. See anywhere?’

S. ‘The moon is shining you could say.’

B. ‘The moon?’ (Barry is perplexed with this.)

S. ‘It looks like the moon when it is shining.’

B. ‘Keep looking around, Jack, are you a religious man?’

S. ‘No, not really. I believe in something but am not sure what that is. I did not go to……….OH!’ (Jack is startled)

B. ‘You’ve seen something haven’t you?’

S. ‘It’s getting brighter!’

B. ‘Now with anticipation, look into that bright area Jack.’

S. ‘SPIRIT FRIENDS, PLEASE HELP ME.’ (Calling out) ‘Oh, I thank you, they are smiling and calling to me, waving. I know where to go, thank you very much.’

B. ‘That’s all you need Jack.’

S. ‘Thank you.’ (Jack’s voice begins to break up with a sob.)B. ‘Goodbye my friend.’

S. ‘Goodbye to you both.’ Wendy said afterwards that Jack was elderly and it certainly could be heard in his perfect diction.

28th March 04. 6pm. Clive Williams. Taped 7 mins.

Clive complained of a sore head and wanted to know what had happened to him. Wendy was holding her head and rocking from side to side with the soreness of it. When Barry asked what he remembered last, Clive said he either at the football or was playing when his head was hit hard. He sounded Australian and got a shock when Barry informed him it was 2004, not 1975 as he imagined. As Barry was talking to Clive, he was having anxiety attacks, which made things a bit difficult. Eventually, his brother George came for him, much to Clive’s astonishment. George took Clive and acknowledged Barry with a nod. A guide came and commented on how long Clive was ‘Lost’ and agreed it was a difficult one.

Tape 40 Side B.

6.15pm Same evening. ‘Crabby old bugger’ Taped 10 mins.

“ I am not going!” This was the opening sentence from this lost or partly lost soul. “No, I’m not giving you my name because I don’t have to!” “I like it here and I’m staying.” “ I’m a crabby old bugger and that’s the way I like it.” The reader can imagine what Barry was up against, but he fell into the style of this soul, so it wasn’t long before the spirit said grudgingly, “Heh! I like you.” Another Australian and from Adelaide, but that was all he would give away. It was a lot of light-hearted banter between Barry and the spirit after that. This soul was not really lost so to speak, but refused to go to the people he could see who were waving and calling to him. Higher spirit beings it seemed had urged him to come to Wendy hoping Barry could change his mind. The turnaround came when the spirit was telling Barry, “I don’t believe in that after-death stuff.” He stopped for a moment and a puzzled look came on Wendy’s face. He said rather sheepishly, “Er, maybe I’d better think again after this?” After convincing him to let Barry have his say, he did adjust his opinions and said, “Oh well, I’ll go to them then, it might be all right, thanks mate.” Barry thought that this was going to be his first failure, but by adopting a ‘It’s ok by me what you do’ type of approach, the spirit became less belligerent or maybe a better word would be ‘Crabby’ Wendy sat the whole time with her arms crossed and a facial expression of ‘I don’t care, I’m not going!’

30th March 04. Peter Thomas. Taped 10 mins.

Peter Thomas was a fifteen year-old who apparently suffered a head injury while riding a bicycle. He was lost and in darkness, sobbing in fear so he gladly let Barry hold his hand. Barry calmed him with counselling and then began the rescue procedure. Soon, Peter saw the ‘The man wearing a dress figure’ and was alarmed at this. Barry laughingly told him who it was just as Peter exclaimed in wonder “He’s carrying my baby sister!” He had no hesitation going to him after that. Peter made grateful goodbyes with Barry urging him on.

3rd April 04. 5.50pm. Quartet. Tape 10 mins.

Wendy began by screwing up her mouth and shaking her head. Barry’s guess was right, another difficult rescue might be about to happen. “I suppose you think you can help me?” Said the spirit, and this set the tone for a while. It wasn’t long though before the soul warmed to Barry and a more relaxed conversation took place. It was a man and he guessed he was dead. At Barry’s confirmation, he just nodded his head. At this point the spirit told Barry there were others with him, they were in a darkness and could he hold the other people’s hands? Barry began the rescue procedure from here. The spirit indicated that they could always see a door opening now and then and people waving to them. This made things easier for Barry, and very quickly the spirits, all holding hands, went to the lighted doorway. “They were so tired,” said the spirit as he went, offering grateful thanks to Barry. A guide came and said that they now had the four souls safely in their care. Barry jokingly remarked about how good it was to deal in quantity. The guide smiled and said that it was a great help to them to get four at one time. He gave thanks and a God bless.
